Intragastric balloon weight loss is a non-surgical method to reduce food intake and prolong satiety by implanting inflatable balloons into the stomach under endoscope. It is suitable for people with BMI≥30 or ≥27 who are complicated with obesity-related diseases (such as diabetes and hypertension), and needs to cooperate with diet and exercise management. The validity period is usually 6 months, and the effect varies from person to person, and the doctor's guidance should be strictly followed.
Principle And Process
1.Principle:
The balloon is placed in the stomach through the endoscope, and normal saline or gas (about 400-700ml) is injected, occupying about 50% of the stomach volume, reducing food intake and enhancing satiety through physical stimulation.
2. Operation process:
Preoperative evaluation: check the health status of the stomach and exclude contraindications such as gastric ulcer and esophageal hiatal hernia.
Balloon placement: enter the stomach through the mouth and inflate/water, without surgery, the whole process takes about 20-30 minutes.
Take out the balloon: take it out on time after 6 months to avoid the risk of balloon rupture or displacement.
Applicable Target Population
1. BMI standard:
Obese people with BMI≥30.
Those with BMI≥27 and obesity-related diseases such as metabolic syndrome and sleep apnea.
2. Non-applicable population:
Pregnant women, patients with stomach diseases, and people with severe cardiopulmonary dysfunction.
Those who can't cooperate with diet and exercise plan for a long time.
